September 9, 1901: death of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

Pic: La Goulue (the glutton) arrives at the Moulin Rouge
Okay, so this is more art, than fashion. But, I've been thinking about visiting the Montmartre's Moulin Rouge when I get the chance (in a few, fingers crossed). It's fair to say that Toulouse-Lautrec and le Moulin Rouge developed the most perfect of symbiotic relationships, even if degenerate ― excuse me. No other artist captures the lifestyle and underlying (perverse) intimacies, and consequently, a testament of the fashions of le beau monde de la Belle Époque in its entirety as Toulouse-Lautrec did; well, in my humble opinion. Read about Toulouse-Lautrec in the Times and at Channel 4.

Treasured kisses.

September 8, 1933: Lacoste anniversary

We can thank the René Lacoste and the Lacoste croc for serving as the first example of a brand name appearing on the outside of an article of clothing. *wince* It's a seemingly agreeable croc, nevertheless; I think it's smiling with its eyes.
Here's a pic from Lacoste's S2009 RTW, Saturday.

Laughing kisses.

September 7, 1995: CK opens flagship store in NY

Ahh.. Calvin Klein, certainly an all-American inspiration. I wonder if they had a gigantic lit-up poster of darling Djimon Hounsou in his skivvies! somwhere in that 20,000 sq ft space on Madison Avenue.

Wishing I were kissing on a handsome man, but blowing you kisses all the same.

Today last year, Valentino SpA confirmed the buzz that Alessandra Facchinetti would become the new creative director, replacing dearest Valentino Garavani. I do love the prettiness of some of her pieces.

September 5, 2006: RéVive launches its $1500 'Peau Magnifique'

Well at least, RéVive isn't asking you to shell out $1500 every month. You only need two monthly treatments each year. How considerate!!

Beautiful kisses (either way).

September 4, 1957: GQ anniversary day

The Gentlemen's Quarterly proclaims September 4th its anniversary day. I've always wondered why it's called Quarterly; it is published every month. Granted, the word 'monthly' doesn't exude the same sophistication as 'quarterly'. Even in mere articulation... Actually, I'm beginning to feel irritated by the word poor word (monthly). So unfair.

Admit it. You love my cover. I've steered clear of politics in all my entries over at Chic; truth is I'm just not into it, but secretly, I've been thrilled by this cover!!

Raspberry kisses and truffles.

September 1, 1998: Prada opens its 5th store on 5th

Prada opens its fifth US store (16,000 sq.ft) on Fifth Ave, this day in 1998. I think I can say "this Prada bag will cost me an arm and a leg!" in Italian.
